There is also a less common use where "mock" means to treat something with open contempt or to show that you think it is foolish. Someone might mock an idea, a rule, or a warning by speaking about it as if it deserves no respect. This sense is still related to the main one: the word often carries the feeling that something is being laughed at, looked down on, or copied in a way that removes its dignity.
