So the idea behind "summarily" is either speed with little process, or brevity with few details. The first use is especially common in legal, official, and disciplinary contexts, where it can suggest authority and finality. The second use is more neutral and simply points to a short, condensed way of presenting something.

You would not usually use "summarily" for everyday physical actions like making toast. You are more likely to see it when people talk about dismissals, rejections, punishments, rulings, or brief accounts. So when something happens "summarily," look for one of two ideas: it was done at once and without much process, or it was expressed briefly and without much detail.
