The word "guy" seems simple enough. It is often just another way to say "man" or "fellow," and in some situations it can also mean a person in a more general, informal way. Its history is a little quirky: it originally referred to Guy Fawkes, who took part in the Gunpowder Plot against the English Parliament in 1605. Over time, the term lost that specific connection and became a common, informal way to refer to a man.
Today, you'll hear "guy" all the time in casual conversation: "That guy over there is really tall," or "I met a nice guy at the coffee shop." The plural form, "guys," can also refer to a group of people: "Let's go hang out with those guys." However, its informality is important. While it is perfectly natural in casual conversation, "guy" can sound unprofessional or even rude in formal contexts. You would not usually refer to your boss as "that guy," for example.
