Description

Freckles are small brown spots that often appear on the skin, especially after time in the sun. They are not scars, and they usually show up where the skin makes more melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. You might describe someone as having "a face dusted with freckles," which gives the image of many tiny spots across the nose or cheeks. They are common in people with fair skin, but anyone can have them.
