Description

"Found" is usually the past tense of "find." It means that someone located something, came across something, or learned something. A child *found a coin on the ground, a detective found a clue, and a student found* the answer after thinking hard. It can be about a real object, an idea, or even a feeling.

There is also another verb, *found, which means to start or build something such as a city, school, or company. In that sense, the past form is founded. So a person may found a business, but they found* their lost keys. The meaning depends on the context, and in most everyday cases it is about discovery.
