verbnoun

Pronunciation

UK

US

  • /ˈfaɪnd/

Description

To "find" means to discover or get to something you were looking for, or to come upon it by chance. You might find your keys after looking all over the house, or find an answer to a hard question. It can also be used for less physical things, like finding joy in a quiet moment or finding the courage to speak up. The past tense and past participle are both "found." Think of a treasure hunter at last uncovering buried gold.
