A stress echocardiogram is performed while you exercise to see how the heart responds to physical activity. Finally, a transesophageal echocardiogram involves passing a small probe down the esophagus to provide even clearer images of certain structures that are harder to see from the outside.
Echocardiography is crucial for diagnosing and monitoring a wide range of conditions, including heart failure, valve disease, congenital heart defects, cardiomyopathy (disease of the heart muscle), and pericardial effusion (fluid around the heart).
