The word is also used in services, as in wraparound care, where different kinds of help are brought together around one person or family. The main idea is complete coverage or support from all sides.

The term "wraparound" describes something that completely encircles, extends around, or is built to cover more than one side of something else. It gives a sense of full coverage or support, as if something is reaching around from several sides at once.

It first makes the most obvious sense with physical things. A wraparound skirt folds around the body. A wraparound porch or deck extends around multiple sides of a house. Wraparound sunglasses curve around the sides of the face for wider coverage. In publishing and design, a wraparound cover uses one continuous design across the front, spine, and back. In finance, a wraparound mortgage is a special arrangement in which a new loan includes an older loan, with the borrower making one combined payment.

The word is also used in less physical ways. "Wraparound care" or "wraparound services" means support planned around the full needs of a person or family. In healthcare, education, or social work, it suggests that different kinds of help are connected instead of offered one by one with no clear link between them. The image is still the same: support coming from every needed side.

Whether it describes a porch, a book cover, a mortgage, or a care plan, "wraparound" usually points to the same idea: something that goes around the whole of it, or support that is organized in a complete and joined-up way.
