Description

Spandex isn't just a material; it's the reason some clothes stretch so easily and still keep their shape. Think of soft leggings for yoga or the close fit of a swimsuit. Also called elastane in many places, it is a man-made fiber that gives fabric strong stretch and helps it spring back after being pulled. It is rarely used alone. Instead, it is mixed with other materials like polyester, nylon, or cotton to make clothes more flexible and comfortable.

You might see it in sports clothes, swimwear, dance costumes, or everyday clothes like jeans that need a little extra stretch. Remember the '80s? It was everywhere in bright, bold fashion. Even so, this fiber is not just about tight clothing. It is mostly about comfort, movement, and a better fit.
