Description

A product isn't just something you buy in a store, though it certainly can be. It's the result of a process, an effort, or an act of making something. Think of baking a cake: the finished cake is the product of mixing ingredients and baking them. A beautiful painting, a useful tool, or even a good result can all be called products because they come from something that was done before. You might say a successful team is the product of good communication and hard work.

The word "product" comes from the Latin "producere," meaning "to bring forth" or "to lead forward." It's often used in business to refer to goods sold, but its meaning is broader than that. A student's excellent grade on a test can also be seen as a product, a result of study and effort. In mathematics, a product is the answer you get when you multiply numbers together (for example, 3 x 4 = 12, and 12 is the product).
