impeccably

C2
adverb

Pronunciation

UK

  • /ɪmpˈɛkəbli/

US

  • /ˌɪmˈpɛkəbli/

Description

To do something impeccably means to do it perfectly, or so well that it is hard to find any fault with it. It often suggests great care, skill, and attention to detail. You can use it for the way someone dresses, behaves, speaks, cleans, serves guests, or carries out a task. If someone is dressed impeccably, every part of their outfit looks just right. If a room is kept impeccably, it is extremely neat and clean.

The word often has a sense of polish and control. A host may behave impeccably at dinner, a waiter may serve guests impeccably, or a musician may perform impeccably on stage. In each case, the idea is the same: everything is done to a very high standard, with no obvious mistakes.
