Description

Imagine your body has an army that protects it from invaders like bacteria and viruses. This word describes a weakness in that army: the body cannot fight infections as well as it should. It does not always mean there is no immune defense at all. More often, it means the defense is weaker than normal. This problem can be present at birth or develop later because of illness, medical treatment, or certain medicines. Someone with this condition may get sick often or take a long time to recover.
