glomerulus

Description

Imagine your kidneys as very efficient cleaning factories for your blood. Inside them are millions of tiny filters called glomeruli. Each one is a small cluster of capillaries, the smallest blood vessels, shaped like a ball and held inside a cup-like structure. As blood flows through this tiny bundle, waste products and extra fluid are filtered out, while important parts like proteins and red blood cells stay in the bloodstream. This is how your body starts getting rid of what it does not need. Think of it as the first step in making urine. If one is not working properly, it can lead to kidney disease.
