Imagine a river carrying leaves downstream: that image captures much of how "entrain" works. In its most basic sense, it can mean to board a train or to put people or goods onto one. But the word travels far beyond the station. It often describes the way a moving fluid or current pulls something along with it, like air, dust, or bubbles caught in flowing water or wind. In a broader sense, it can also suggest being drawn into a process or movement, as if a larger force has swept you along.
