Some endoscopes also allow doctors to take biopsies (small tissue samples) or perform minor procedures through the instrument.

The technology behind endoscopes has advanced significantly. Early versions were rigid and offered limited visibility, but modern ones are often flexible, provide high-resolution images, and can record or display live video.

Beyond medicine, similar tools are used in various industries. Mechanics inspect engine cylinders, plumbers check for blockages in pipes, and engineers examine hard-to-reach areas in machinery.
