The term antigenic describes the ability of a substance (an antigen) to provoke an immune response in the body, often including the production of antibodies. Think of it as a signal flare for your immune system. Not everything that enters your body is antigenic; your cells have ways of recognizing "self" from "non-self." But when something is antigenic, it's recognized as foreign and potentially harmful, prompting an attack.
