worksite

Pronunciation

UK

  • /wˈɜːksaɪt/

US

  • /wˈɜːksaɪt/

Description

A worksite is the place where a particular job is being done. The word is used most often for construction, roadwork, repairs, and other kinds of practical on-site work. If you see fences, warning signs, tools, machines, or workers wearing safety gear, you are probably near a worksite. It can be used more broadly for other job locations too, but it usually sounds more natural when talking about a physical site where work is actively happening.

Examples

  1. 1

    Safety gear

Everyone entering the worksite has to wear a hard hat and safety boots.

  2. 2

    Crew arrival

The manager was already at the worksite when the crew arrived at 7 a.m.

  3. 3

    Safety inspection

After the storm, inspectors visited several worksites to check for damage and safety risks.
