wonky

Wonky is an informal word for something that is not quite right. It can describe something crooked, lopsided, shaky, bent, or uneven. It can also describe something that does not work smoothly or does not make good sense. A picture frame hanging at an angle can look wonky. A shopping cart with a bad wheel can feel wonky. A plan, argument, or computer system can also be wonky if it seems unreliable, awkward, or slightly wrong.

The word usually has a light, informal tone. It often suggests that the problem is noticeable but not disastrous. Something wonky may be funny, awkward, or mildly frustrating rather than completely broken. In British English especially, it is very common in everyday speech, but it is also widely understood elsewhere.

You can use it for physical things, such as a fence post after a storm or a cake that sank to one side. You can also use it for less concrete things, such as numbers that seem off, an explanation with weak logic, or software that behaves strangely.
