Description

Imagine a tiny, furry animal moving quickly through the grass. It may be a vole. Voles are small rodents that are often confused with mice, but they usually have shorter tails, smaller ears, and rounder bodies. They dig shallow tunnels and make little paths through grass in fields, meadows, and gardens. They eat roots, bulbs, seeds, and other plant material, so they can sometimes be a garden pest. At the same time, they are an important food source for animals like owls and foxes.
