To be undefeated means to have never lost. You will hear it most often in sports, games, and competitions. Think of a boxer who has won every match, or a team that goes through the whole season without a loss. The word gives a feeling of strength and steady success. Sometimes it can also describe someone or something that has not been beaten in a contest or challenge.

"Undefeated" describes a person, team, or sometimes another competitor that has never lost. It usually means there is a record of wins and no defeats. The word is most common in sports, tournaments, elections, battles, and other direct contests.

You might hear: "The team finished the season undefeated," which means they did not lose a single game. A boxer can be undefeated after many fights. A chess player can stay undefeated through a tournament. In these cases, the idea is simple: there were challenges, but no losses.
