A trackball isn't like the mouse most of us are used to; you don't move the whole device around. Instead, it has a visible ball set in a socket. You might also find them in places where a regular mouse is not practical, such as kiosks, medical equipment, or industrial control panels. Because the device itself does not move, it takes up less desk space and can be easier to use in tight areas. There are even versions designed for one-handed use, which can also help with accessibility.
