However, it is important to note that an elevated Tg level is not always a sign of cancer. Benign thyroid conditions, including thyroiditis, goiter, or non-cancerous nodules, can also raise Tg levels. Tg testing can also be affected by thyroglobulin antibodies, which may interfere with the result. For that reason, doctors interpret Tg alongside other laboratory results, imaging, and the person's medical history.
