It is mainly used to make polystyrene, which is used in cups, packaging, and insulation, and also synthetic rubber used in products like tires.

Styrene is an organic chemical compound with the formula C8H8. That simply means it is a molecule made of carbon and hydrogen atoms arranged in a specific way. This structure makes it useful as a monomer, a small building block that can join with many others to form polymers, the large molecules used to make plastics and rubbers.
