Imagine a strong seabird circling above cold, rough seas. That's likely a skua. These birds are often called "pirate birds" because they chase other seabirds and make them drop the fish they have caught. But they are not only hunters. However, skuas are more than just thieves. They are also important scavengers, feeding on carrion and helping clean up their harsh environments. They are highly adaptable birds and can live in places where many other predators struggle.
