Description

Salesforce is a cloud-based Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform. Imagine you are running a busy bakery. You need to remember who your regular customers are, what they like to order, and when their birthdays are so you can send them special offers. Salesforce helps businesses do that, but on a much larger scale. It is a system for managing sales, marketing, customer service, and more in one place.

Originally focused on helping sales teams track leads and close deals (hence the name!), it has grown into a massive ecosystem with apps for everything from analyzing data to building online communities. You might hear people say they "work in Salesforce" or that their company is "Salesforce-driven." It has become essential jargon in many business contexts, especially within tech and marketing circles.
