replant

A2
verb

Pronunciation

UK

  • /rɪplˈænt/

US

  • /riˈplænt/

Description

To replant is to plant something again, often in a new place or after it has been removed. Maybe you carefully dig up a delicate flower before a frost and plant it in a pot indoors for safekeeping. Or perhaps a community works together to replant trees after a wildfire, helping a lost forest grow back.

It can also be used in a broader, more figurative way for bringing something back after loss or damage, though this is less common than the literal use. In both cases, the idea is simple: something is placed back so it can grow again. Think of it as a second chance to bloom.
