verb

Pronunciation

US

  • /riˈmaɪnd/

Description

Have you ever walked into a room and completely forgotten why? That's where "remind" comes in! To remind someone is to help them recall something they've already learned or experienced, or to prompt them about something they need to do. It's like gently nudging their memory. You might remind your friend about an upcoming birthday, or a specific scent might remind you of childhood summers.

"Remind" can also mean to make you think of something else, as in, "This song reminds me of her." It connects the present with the past, or one thing with another that feels similar. Think of it as opening a small memory box. In everyday English, it is a very common word for helping people remember things and for describing familiar feelings or connections.
