Because of this, schools, publishers, and employers often check whether work is original.

In a world full of shared information, it is important to know how to cite sources and give credit clearly. Changing only a few words is not enough if the idea still comes from someone else. Good writing builds on the work of others honestly, with clear credit and with your own real contribution added.
