A mage is a person who uses magic, especially in fantasy stories and games. Picture someone casting spells, studying old books, or using special powers to help, fight, or protect. The word comes from magus, an old term linked to wise men and priests. Because of that history, it can carry a sense of mystery, but in everyday use it mostly just means a magic user.
