Description

Latex is best known as the milky sap taken from rubber trees and as the rubber material made from it. It is stretchy, useful, and found in things like gloves, balloons, bands, and many other products. For some people, though, latex can cause an allergic reaction, from itchy skin to breathing problems. The word can also mean LaTeX, a document-making system used for scientific and technical writing, but that is a separate meaning.
