Description

"Googly" is used in a few clear ways. In cricket, it is a ball from a leg-spin bowler that looks as if it will turn one way but turns the other way after it lands. Outside cricket, many people know it from "googly eyes"—small plastic craft eyes with loose centers that shake and roll around. You also see it in "googly-eyed," which describes someone looking wide-eyed, dazed, or deeply taken with someone or something. Across these uses, the word carries a playful sense of surprise.
