Doctors diagnose embolisms using advanced imaging tests like CT scans or ultrasounds. Treatment typically involves medications to dissolve clots (thrombolytics), blood thinners to prevent new ones from forming, or surgical procedures to physically remove the blockage. Prevention is key: staying active, maintaining a healthy weight, and avoiding prolonged immobility are all crucial steps in reducing the risk of a life-threatening embolism.
