The word disagreeable describes something that isn't pleasant or enjoyable; it evokes a feeling of aversion, discomfort, or annoyance. It is often used as a more descriptive alternative to "bad," and it is usually less dramatic than "terrible" or "horrendous." While "horrendous" implies something shocking or extreme, disagreeable suggests something unwelcome, irritating, or offensive to your senses or tastes.

It can apply to many things: a disagreeable odor (like stale fish), a disagreeable texture (rough sandpaper), or a disagreeable situation (being stuck in traffic). It is also frequently used to describe personality traits—someone who is rude, grumpy, or difficult to get along with is often called disagreeable.
