Description

Imagine you have a very long string—that's DNA! Now imagine carefully winding that string around spools, then coiling those together. That's essentially what happens with chromatin. Chromatin isn't just DNA itself; it's DNA tightly wound around proteins called histones. It resides inside the nuclei of most of your cells and is the reason your genetic information is neatly organized and protected.
