If two events are causally related, it means one actually makes the other happen—not just that they occur around the same time. If you push the first domino in a line and the rest fall down, that first push is causally responsible for the mess on the floor.

The biggest challenge with this word isn't the meaning, but the spelling. It is very easily confused with "casually" (meaning relaxed or informal). If you are dressed casually, you are wearing jeans.
