appendicitis

Description

Imagine your body has a little pouch attached to your large intestine called the appendix. Sometimes, this appendix gets blocked—maybe by waste or something else! When it gets blocked, bacteria can build up and cause it to become inflamed and infected. That is appendicitis. It usually starts with pain near your belly button that moves to your lower right abdomen, and it's not a pain you want to ignore! Appendicitis often requires immediate medical attention, and usually surgery to remove the appendix. Think of it like a tiny, troublesome tube causing a big problem.
