To announce something is to make it officially known—like a town crier shouting the news! It's more than just telling someone; it's a deliberate message meant for an audience (a class, a team, the public). You might announce your engagement, a company might announce its quarterly profits, or an airline might announce flight delays. Think of a planned reveal—that's often what announcing is all about. Sometimes, even nature seems to announce things—like the arrival of spring through blooming flowers. The word traces back to Latin roots meaning "to make known."
